The role of the nursery nurse

In each Esedra nursery, the nursery nurse supports the health sector and ensure the physical and psychological health of each child in the nursery.

Her/his role includes:

  • following the overall development of each child
  • preventing risks to health in accordance with the recommendations of the ONE (respect for rules in case of illness, inform the staff and parents in case of contagious diseases, …)
  • organizing and attending ONE medical consultation
  • supervising hygiene sectors, dietetics and catering
  • preventing risks related to general safety in child living spaces
  • assisting parents and professionals in the issues of child health and community


ONE Medical consultation

A medical consultation with the Office of Birth and Childhood (ONE) is held once a month in our nurseries. This consultation is primarily preventive and has as primary objective to ensure of the harmonious development of your child. In no way does it replaces medical visits to your pediatrician and no prescriptions can be issued. However, during these consultations you can monitor your child’s immunizations according to the scheme recommended by the ONE. This approach is possible if you agree to it in writing.

Children are seen in this consultation based on the pattern established by the ONE. Two options are available: the mandatory monitoring (visit at the entrance, 9 months, 18 months and out) or universal monitoring (visit at the entrance of the host environment, 5, 6, 9, 12-13, 14-15, 18 months, 2 years, 3 years and out).
